ESD-Compliant Conductive Tray | Protective Packaging for Electronic Components

Reliable quality that protects precision components from static electricity.

Project Overview

We received a consultation from an electronic components manufacturer for an ESD (electrostatic discharge) compliant tray that could safely hold and transport precision components vulnerable to static electricity.

Packtoss designed a black tray using conductive resin, with an independent pocket structure for each component that combines electrostatic protection with product protection.

The Customer’s Challenge

  • Wanted to prevent component damage caused by static electricity
  • Wanted a structure that could align and protect each component individually
  • Also placed importance on ease of handling on mass-production lines

Packtoss’s Proposal

Packtoss selected the optimal material for the customer’s product specifications, and leveraged our solid design capabilities to choose a more efficient layout and tray thickness suited to the application. Our strength lies in proposing designs that pursue quality and functionality while maximizing cost consideration.

We designed a black tray using conductive material, with divided pockets matching the component’s shape. The uniform grid structure also takes compatibility with picking work and automated conveyance lines into consideration.

This design led to the following results.

  • Reduced product defects caused by static electricity
  • Improved handling efficiency through component alignment and protection
  • Compatibility with mass-production and automated lines

Key Points of This Case

Electrostatic Protection Through ESD Compliance

The use of conductive material reliably protects electronic components that are sensitive to static electricity.

Alignment and Protection Through a Uniform Pocket Structure

An independent grid structure for each component prevents contact and damage during transport.

Applicable to Electronic Components and Precision Equipment in General

This can be applied to protective packaging for a wide range of electronic components, from semiconductor parts to connectors.
