Project Overview
A paper-molded compact for eyeshadow palettes and pressed powder is a sustainable cosmetics container that laminates a pulp injection-molded piece onto card paper, allowing the lid to lock without using plastic. We received a consultation from a cosmetics brand for a plastic-free, sustainable compact container that could beautifully hold eyeshadow palettes and pressed powder while securely locking the lid.
Packtoss adopted a unique structure that laminates a pulp injection-molded piece onto recyclable card paper. We developed a compact in which the locking latch shape is molded entirely from paper material, without using plastic parts.
The Customer’s Challenge

Packtoss’s Proposal
We leveraged the characteristics of pulp injection molding to achieve undercut shapes that are difficult with ordinary paper molding. The latch shape that locks when the lid closes is molded as a single piece without plastic parts, ensuring a firm closing feel when opening and closing. Furthermore, by laminating recyclable card paper onto the back of the molded piece, we enabled delicate decoration through offset printing, achieving a premium finish suited for novelties and small gifts. We can also accommodate designs combined with pulp mold, proposing the optimal structure based on the application, desired texture, and balance of environmental impact.
This design led to the following results.
