Cushioning Package for Precision Equipment Using Pulp Injection Molding

Design capability that reliably protects precision equipment.

Project Overview

A precision equipment manufacturer approached us wanting to switch to environmentally friendly packaging material while protecting the product from impact during transport.

Packtoss designed a cushioning tray using pulp injection molding matched to the product shape, proposing a replacement for foam material.

The Customer’s Challenge

  • Wanting to switch from polystyrene foam to an environmentally friendly material
  • Wanting to reliably protect precision equipment from impact during transport
  • Needing a cushioning structure that accommodates multiple product shapes

Packtoss’s Proposal

We designed a pulp injection molding mold matched to the product’s shape, providing firm cushioning where needed. Since it is a paper material, it can be processed as recycled paper after use.

This design led to the following results.

  • Significantly reduced environmental impact compared to polystyrene foam
  • Suppressed transport damage through a cushioning structure that fits the product shape
  • Achieved sustainability through recyclable material

Key Points of This Case

Custom design matched to the product shape

Pulp injection molding makes it possible to achieve a cushioning structure that accommodates even complex shapes.

Balancing environmental consideration with cost efficiency

By switching to a paper material, we simultaneously achieved environmental compliance and optimized packaging costs.

Applications Across Precision Equipment and Home Appliances

This can be applied to cushioning packaging for a wide range of products, including home appliances, precision equipment, and sensors.
